The Half Rupee 1950-1951 coin was part of the Pre Decimal series of India. The coin was minted by the India Government Mint, Mumbai, India between the years 1950 and 1951. The coin itself was made of Nickel and had a reeded grained edge. This circular coin had a raised undecorated rim. It weighed 5.831 grams, and had a diameter of 24 mm. The known mintage of the Half Rupee 1950-1951 coin is 22,691,000

The front of this Half Rupee coin features the coin value 1/2 RUPEE between two mirrored spikes on the left and right. At the bottom of the coin the year can be found in small text, which will be 1950 or 1951. When we look at the legend at the top of the coin the value is shown in Hindi, आधा रुपया (AaDaa rupayā). At the bottom of the coin a mint mark may be found.

The back of this Half Rupee coin features the Indian Coat of arms which was an Asoka lion pedestal between 2 arcs. The legend on the back of the coin featured the state name “GOVERNMENT OF INDIA”.
