20 Lire Ramo di Quercia

 

The 20 Lire Ramo di Quercia coin was part of the Italian Lire 1946-2001 series of Italy. The coin was minted by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, Roma, Italy between the years 1957 and 1959. The coin itself was made of 92% Copper, 6% Aluminium, 2% Nickel and had a reeded grained edge. This circular coin had a raised un-decorated rim. It weighed 3.6 grams, and had a diameter of 21.3mm. The known mintage of the 20 Lire Ramo di Quercia coin is 144,630,000

The front of the 20 Lire Ramo di Quercia coin features an Oak Twig with four leaves between the value on the left “L.20” (Lire) and the year on the right which will be between the years 1957 and 1959. The mintmark “R” for the Rome mint can also be found on the lower left of the coin.

The back of the 20 Lire Ramo di Quercia coin features a womans head “The Libertine” with two spikes in her hair. The legend along the bottom features the state name “REPVBBLICA ITALIANA”. Along the bottom microtext of the designers name can be found “GIAMPAOLI” for Pietro Giampaoli.
