20 Centavos Portugal Front and Back

 

The 20 Centavos coin was part of the Estado Novo 1926-1974 series of Portugal. The coin was minted by the Casa da Moeda de Lisboa, Portugal between the years 1969 and 1974. The coin itself was made of 90-70% Copper, 10-30% Tin and had a plain smooth edge. This circular coin had a raised un-decorated rim. It weighed 1.8 grams, and had a diameter of 16mm. The known mintage of the 20 Centavos coin is 77,173,000

The front of the 20 c coin features the coin value 20 CENTAVOS above two olive branches with fifteen leaves and 6 olives. Micro text featuring the coin designers name M.NORTE can also be found on the front of the coin.

The back of the 20 Centavos coin features an Escutcheons (symbol) with 25 dots. The legend features the state name divivded between the left and right hand side of the coin, which are seperated by a dot spacer. On the left REPVBLICA whilst on the right it reads PORTVGVESA. The year of the coin can be found along the bottom, the year featured will be between 1969 and 1974.
