10 Silver Escudos 1954 Front and Back

The 10 Escudos coin was part of the Estado Novo 1926-1974 series of Portugal. The coin was minted by the Casa da Moeda de Lisboa, Portugal between the years 1954 and 1955. The coin itself was made of 835/1000 Silver and had a reeded grained edge. This circular coin had a raised un-decorated rim. It weighed 12.5 grams, and had a diameter of 30mm. The known mintage of the 10 Escudos coin is 9,820,000
The front of the 10 Escudos Coin features a Escutcheon (Shield Coat of Arms) above metallic globe, between the value 10 Esc.

The back of the 10 $ coin fetures and Old sailing ship sailing to the left on the ocean above (year) 1954 or 1955. Micro text on the right hand side features the coin designers name J. OA SILVA. The legend of coin features the state name REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA.
